SR1 Strippers[]
I started out trying to figure out how the SR1 Japanese stripper replacements worked, then ended up realising that only white and asian strippers are ever loaded in the normal version of Saints Row. In my experiments with model swapping to figure things out, I did end up spotting a Latina stripper walking around outside.
Because stripper locations are action nodes, they are baked into the chunk data instead of being in CTS files.
Japanese stripper replacements seemed to be similarly baked in. If I write a script to load the characters in Japanese SR1, it loads the normal characters. Similarly, when you call Samantha as a Homie, she is replaced, but when you load a game with her already recruited, it's the normal version. (As I noted in the Samantha trivia some time ago.)
It perplexes me why they're not just different variants - or an edited version of the normal files - there are bunch of other tiny changes in the Japanese version, so it was obviously no problem for them to have different xtbl files, but for some reason they've done some weird hardcoded hack to load different characters.
Due to this, it's absolutely impossible for me to get good screenshots of the Japanese SR1 strippers. I have an idea to get some "good enough" screenshots, however. ~ 452 (talk) 22:35, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
