[edit] Activities
Activities will be returning to Saints Row 2, distractions aside from other Respect-Gaining 'Diversions', such as BASE Jumping, etc. Activities are notable, because they do three important things:
- Generate cash.
- Generate respect.
- Unlock new items/clothing/vehicles/abilities upon full completion of an area/the whole Activity.
[edit] Chop Shop
[edit] Objective
- Jack the cars on the list, bring them back to the garage.
[edit] Details
Saints Row
- Accessed through your Activities Menu, the player simply selects the type of car they want to look for. Sometimes this will just be a plain model, other times they will require customization before the Chop Shop will accept it.
- When a car matching the criteria for the Activity is in range, it flashes up on the HUD map.
Saints Row 2
- Unlike the first Saints row chop shop, the Saints Row 2 chop shop does not require you to customize before handing it in. The equalizer to this is the police will come in larger numbers than the first.
- When a car matching the criteria for the Activity is in range, it flashes up on the HUD map.
[edit] Crowd Control
[edit] Objective
- Protect VIPs from rabid, often violent fans as they move in the open.
[edit] Details
- In essence, Crowd Control is a simple escort mission with a difference, the player must rely on only their fists to waylay attackers, and make a specified amount of money within the time limit. However, the player also has the ability to throw violent fans into destructible scenery and moving traffic to gain bonuses along the way; throwing those fans into the destructible objects will be necessary to make the required amounts of money.
[edit] Demolition Derby
[edit] Objective
- Cause enough damage to other competitors cars.
[edit] Details
- Choose your car and equip it with upgrades that can increase your speed, defense, and attacks to gain cash from causing damage to your opponents cars.
[edit] Drug Trafficking
[edit] Objective
- Ride shotgun with a drug dealer as they make their rounds. Keep the gangs and cops off their back.
[edit] Details
- Simply, the player rides in the drug dealer's unique vehicle, which can sustain much more damage than any civilian version, shooting any gang bangers or cops that try to stop them. In the early stages, this can just be the occasional cop car or street thugs, but later on, the player must fend off the FBI and SWAT, and may even have to switch cars if the original vehicle gets too damaged.
- The dealer will drive to each location, meet with their buyer and make the sale. It is imperative that the buyer does NOT die before the deal has been made, otherwise the Activity is failed.
[edit] Escort
[edit] Objective
Drive a hooker and their client around town, avoiding the paparazzi and fulfilling any desires the client wants which the hooker can't.
[edit] Specifics
The player is immediately outfitted with a luxury car with tinted windows, before picking up a hooker, then driving them to the client. Once the client is collected, the 'pleasure' meter begins to build.
However, the player must avoid the paparazzi, jilted lovers, private detectives and even the IRS, who, when close enough, stop the progress of the 'pleasure' meter and build the 'footage' meter. If the 'footage' meter ever fills up, the mission is failed.
The player can speed up the filling of the 'pleasure' meter by completing tasks the client asks for, such as smashing up other cars, driving really fast, making long jumps or going to specific destinations. Once the 'pleasure' meter is full, that stage is complete.
If playing consecutive rounds, the player must switch hookers after two stages for a fresh one. It's also a good time to have the car repaired.
[edit] Fight Club
[edit] Objective
- Enter the ring and beat the crap out of everyone you come up against. Use your fists, or weapons lying around the cage. Just try to survive.
[edit] Specifics
- Focusing entirely on melee' combat, the Fight Club Activity puts the player up against increasing numbers of opponents, as well as increasing the toughness of each opponent. Once all enemy combatants have been eliminated, the player progresses to the next round.
- Fight Club also seems to be a showcase for the new 'Finishing Move' system, where the player will perform an automatic take down on an enemy if three hits are landed in quick succession with the same trigger.
[edit] FUZZ
[edit] Objective
Take to the streets of Stilwater to dispense your own brand of justice on the hit new show, FUZZ.
[edit] Specifics
Dressed as a police officer, the player partakes in a twist on the Vigilante-style missions, being tasked to be as brutal as possible whilst taking down criminals, rather than just blowing them away. Bonuses are awarded for use of specified weapons in the line of duty.
[edit] Heli-Assault
[edit] Objective
- Take to the skies in the Tornado Attack Helicopter to stop various villainy around Stilwater.
[edit] Specifics
- A marker will appear on the map urging you to follow it, once there you must fire upon the drug dealers, bent cop meetings or cars that you must kill.
This activity nets a large amount of respect due to the fact one must kill multiple gang members in cars in quick succession
[edit] Hitman
[edit] Objective
- Locate and eliminate specific targets around Stilwater.
- Rewards for completing Hitman lists;
- Completed 1 list; Grenades in weapon cache
- Completed 3 lists; Satchel charges in weapon cache
- Completed 5 lists; Unlimited rifle ammo at crib
[edit] Specifics
Go to a certain location and/or perform a certain action as specified by the target list for each target to make them appear and kill them. The person killed might sometimes be a decoy or a rival hitman might appear to try and kill the target before you do.
[edit] Insurance Fraud
[edit] Objective
- Continued from Saints Row, Insurance Fraud is simple - throw yourself into harm's way for profit. More pain means more money.
[edit] Specifics
- The player can make themselves invulnerable to kinetic damage (falling, being hit by a car), and collapse in place. When running or jumping, this throws the player in that direction. In addition to this, the player can drive a car or bike into another object, creating an 'Ejection Bonus'.
- Several conditions affect the score of any one 'bail', witnesses, distance, amount of cars hit and whether or not those witnesses/cars are government-owned. Any of these factors grants a bonus or multiplier to the score.
- To start the timer and start earning money for the activity the player must reach a particular district of Stilwater, but once there they can go anywhere else for the rest of the duration. However, the player remains vulnerable to bullets, explosions and fire, as well as rendering them unable to utilize a weapon, meaning that getting notoriety with the police or a gang can effectively ruin a round of Insurance Fraud.
- Upon reaching the destination a marker will appear on the map indicating the adrenaline zone, staying in this small area will allow the players adrenaline meter to fill up more quickly than usual, once full much more money will be earned and the player will be thrown further distances.
- Also of note is that the player can use the right analog stick to alter where they fly if they've been hit, which is quite often necessary for the largest chains.
[edit] Mayhem
[edit] Objective
- To cause havoc around Stilwater.
[edit] Specifics
- You will be given a time limit in which to make a set amount of money, earned by blowing up cars (certain cars will result in bonus money), killing people and destroying various furniture (particularly fences) in the specific area in which you are assigned to. Note that the timer stops when you are outside of the area, and that collision rules apply. (If it won't get knocked over/down by driving your vehicle it it, don't drive into it.) You can combo and gain more money per destruction, which you will eventually need; an easy way to do this is to line up a car with the long axis of a line of wire fences and then just drive straight forward, hitting them in quick succession, one right after the other.
[edit] Racing
[edit] Objective
- Simple. Hit the checkpoints and finish before the other guys.
[edit] Specifics
- Racing in Saints Row is a spin on other in-game racing, as the player will race whatever class of vehicle they bring to the Activity, from bikes to trucks, creating a much more balanced, if not exactly realistic race.
- Each checkpoint, as well as the finish line, is a trail of fire, with a barrel either-side of it which will explode one the player passes past it, often killing several bystanders.
- Weapons are disabled for the duration of each race, but ramming and PIT maneuvers are still allowed.
[edit] Septic Avenger
[edit] Objective
You meet the ex-Alderman's wife. You enter her septic truck and spray human excrement all over the town to bring down property values.
[edit] Specifics
Pretty much all the player does is cover things in human feces, avoid the police, and cause enough collateral damage to earn money. Get the specified amount of Money to win.
[edit] Snatch
[edit] Objective
- Find the hos and bring them back.
[edit] Specifics
- You'll be given a set amount of time to find and recruit hos around Stilwater, once they are in your car you must bring them back to the marker indicated on the map.
[edit] Tagging
[edit] Objective
- Spray the 50 tag markers hidden around the city.
[edit] Specifics
- Hidden markers around the city are available to spray paint over, very simple.
[edit] Trailblazing
[edit] Objective
- One of the weirder activities, the player is put in a fireproof suit and then has to ride on a blazing ATV, setting fire to explosive barrels, objects and even people, all whilst trying to stay alight.
[edit] Specifics
- The player is put on a blazing Toad quad bike wearing a flame retardant and explosion-proof suit. As with regular racing the player must race to checkpoints, but the timer counts down between each checkpoint instead of for the whole course; driving into people and blowing up cars and things and setting them alight gives you more time. Driving into a fuel jug will cause it to explode, and driving into a gasoline trail will cause it to shoot out (sometimes a single spot causes two trails to shoot out) and explode in a wide range ahead of the player; hitting these spots will be necessary to complete some levels. For obvious reasons, water will be a hazard that must be avoided at all costs.
- Note that the additional time bonuses are applied at the next checkpoint and not upon the damage being done; therefore, if the player must choose between additional time on top of whatever has been accumulated or reaching the checkpoint it is usually better to go for the checkpoint.
[edit] Diversions
Diversions are new mini-activities that can be performed anytime, anywhere on the map. Basic diversions include head shots, nut shots, reckless driving etc. However, many more diversions are included and are a bit more complex.
[edit] BASE jumping
[edit] Objective
- Parachute towards the ground in a certain zone for cash and respect. If you land directly on the target (a car), you'll receive an award that allows you to take no fall damage, gain respect and money from this diversion.
[edit] Specifics
- BASE jumping can be performed by jumping off high cliffs, buildings and out of air vehicles.
- Open up your parachute and start the diversion
- Land in the zone to win the diversion for cash and respect
[edit] Vehicle Diversions
- You must complete the task at hand when you get in a taxi, squad car or ambulance. The task itself differs depending on the vehicle you are in. In addition to the career specific vehicle diversions, if you steal a car with a person left in the passenger seat, the Hostage diversion becomes available. In this diversion, you must drive fast enough to prevent your hostage from escaping long enough to receive the ransom.
[edit] Specifics
- Ambulance- drive to the aftermath of a car collision and use the Shock Paddles or perform chest Compressions to revive those involved in the crash.
- Police- drive to the scene of the crime and stop it. (Only in FUZZ)
- Taxi- drive people around the city on time.
- Firetruck- Drive to locations and put out fire with an fire extinguisher.
[edit] Ho-ing
[edit] Objective
- The player must perform movement stick commands to increase pleasure as the player and his/her ho "entertain" each other.
[edit] Specifics
- Different movement stick combination need to be performed to gain points and win.
- The quicker and more accurately you do these combination, the more pleasure points you and your "friend" will have.
[edit] Streaking
[edit] Objective
- The player is to go to his wardrobe and remove all off his or her clothes then run up to civilians, law enforcement and gang members to get them shocked.
[edit] Specifics
- The player is given a time limit to shock a number of people, the running style once removing all your clothes in your wardrobe, scaring brave civilians will cause them to attack you and law enforcers with attack you also with a bit of a chase involved.
- This can be done with both male and female characters but the comments of the population change at some level.
[edit] Zombie Uprising
- Basic 3D zombie game where you must kill zombies using weapons at hand. You have fellow survivors to aid you in the fight, but both ranged and melee weapons have only a limited number of uses before they are no longer usable.
[edit] Vehicle Surfing
[edit] Objective
- The player is to jump on the roof of a civilian's vehicle and keep their balance.
[edit] Specifics
- The player must move the left analog stick left and right to keep their balance, making sure that the green arrow stays as close to the centre of the arc as possible. After a short time the player may then try and handstand while maintaining their balance on the car, but it is not mandatory. If they receive 3 gold stars, the traffic cone hat will be unlocked. If using an XBox 360 consle you will have unlocked the "Surf's Up" achievement.
