DescriptionEdit

Located in the center of the neighborhood of Rosen Oaks, in the district of New Colvin in Steelport, Safeword is a BDSM brothel encountered in the missions "Return to Steelport" and "Pimps Up, Hos Down". It was originally under control of the Morningstar (specifically Viola and Kiki DeWynter), although it becomes a Stronghold (and Crib) under the 3rd Street Saints after completing the latter mission.

The brothel is named after the code word of the same name, used in BDSM.

History Edit

Saints Row: The Third Edit

The 3rd Street Saints were originally directed to the brothel during their search for allies to help take down The Syndicate. After saving Kinzie Kensington from the Deckers, she directed The Protagonist and Pierce towards Safeword to find Zimos. Kinzie explains that all prostitution in Steelport is controlled by the DeWynter twin sisters, Viola and Kiki, and Zimos was locked up in Safeword for competing with them.^[2] The Protagonist and Pierce manage to fight their way through the brothel to Zimos, who is locked up in the basement, and escape with him via Pony Cart.^[1]

The Protagonist and Zimos later return to Safeword; Zimos auctions off The Protagonist as a sex slave to infiltrate the brothel.^[3] After a naked Protagonist wakes up from being drugged, the two fight their way through the brothel's basement, freeing prostitutes as they go. After killing a Brute clad in heavy armor and wielding a Mini-Gun in the garage, The Protagonist and Zimos finally clear out Morningstar from Safeword and claim it as their own.^[4]

Stronghold upgrades Edit

After unlocking the Stronghold upon completion of "Pimps Up, Hos Down", Safeword can be upgraded twice.

Base Edit

The original condition of the Stronghold unlocks:

Upgrade 1 Edit

The first upgrade for the Strongold costs $20,000, and unlocks:

• Increased transfer limit
• 10% bonus to hourly income from the New Colvin district
• 10% bonus to all Respect
• 10% more ammunition held in the Weapons Cache

Upgrade 2 Edit

The second upgrade for the Strongold costs $40,000, and unlocks:

• The Stronghold itself becomes physically taller
• Increased transfer limit
• 15% bonus to hourly income from the New Colvin district
• 15% bonus to all Respect
• 10% more ammunition held in the Weapons Cache

Trivia Edit

• Kinzie Kensington's safeword is "Tea Cup".^[5]
• Although the dialogue differs depending on which voice the player chose for The Protagonist during Player Customization, the conversation between them and Pierce while driving to Safeword in "Return to Steelport" implies that Pierce has been to a BDSM club before.
• As with the other two Stronghold Cribs in Saints Row: The Third, Burns Hill Reactors and 3 Count, the original interior of the brothel can no longer be seen after acquiring the Crib after completing "Pimps Up, Hos Down", and instead uses the same interior used for all Stronghold Cribs.
• Two Status Quos can always be found parked to the right of the entrance to Safeword, even prior to it becoming a Stronghold. This can help with the Assassination of Mr. Dickson, which requires a Status Quo limo to draw him out.^[6]
• A non-collectible sex doll can be found sitting upright in front of the Stronghold, between the fountain and low wall.^[7]
• The Transfer Limit upgrade screen (seen after upgrading the Stronghold or in the Upgrades section of the Cell Phone) names Safeword the "Mega Brothel".
• In the small grassy area to the left of Safeword is a Gang Operation; after this is completed, the player can find two Infuegos and a Justice in the same location.
• Inside the interior of Safeword (once it becomes a Stronghold), a magazine with Shaundi's naked photo can be found in the bathroom upstairs, on the side of the bath.
  • The same magazine can also be found in the Burns Hill Reactors Stronghold, on the front desk of Angel's Gym, on another desk in an Image as Designed store in Henry Steel Mills.
• When it's still under the control of the Morningstar, there is a radio commercial advertising various functions, including childrens parties.^[audio?]
• Two large grassy mounds beside Safeword are meant to look like a pair of breasts, each having stone nipple-shaped objects upon each one.^{[requesting screenshot]}
• There is a Female Brute in the Jail Cell during the mission "Pimps Up, Hos Down".
• The song that plays inside of the club itself is "Rancid Core" by Epic Score.^[8]
  • The song can still be heard slightly if the player hugs the wall between the two elevators or on the slope of the garage.
  • This track can also be heard in Saints Row 2 - it plays in the Ultor Arena during the fight with Maero in the mission "Showdown".
• A Dildo can be found on the hot tub
