The parachute is not an item or a vehicle, but is something that The Protagonist always has and can always use while falling from a certain height. It is impossible to lose your parachute, or to otherwise not have one.
While in a controlled fall, the parachute is deployed by the Action button, but in an uncontrolled fall, such as after hitting a building during your fall, or being hit by the wing of a plane, it is not possible to use your parachute.
While using your parachute, pressing the Action button again will cause you to detach the parachute and resume falling. However, it is also possible to deploy another parachute after canceling your current parachute, since they are unlimited.
A prompt to start the Base Jumping diversion may appear while parachuting.
Parachutes do not appear in Saints Row since there are no usable aircraft, and few accessible rooftops.
The designs on the parachute are based on country flags.
The parachute back-pack can be customised and choose what it can be for example, anime kitty, basic parachute and spaceman backpack.
While the parachute is deployed you fall much slower than if you were falling, and move in a slight forward direction. It is possible to push forward or pull back on the analog stick to control the rate of your descent and the speed that you move forward.
It is possible to rotate which direction you are facing, and can control where you land.
