Description
Edit
Birk is well-known for his role as Nyte Blayde in a TV show of the same name about a vampire hunter-turned-vampire, who is hunted by an organization he once worked for.[reference?]
Biography
Edit
Birk is a famous actor who tags along with the 3rd Street Saints to study the gang's behavior in order for him to make his role in an upcoming movie based on the gang's adventures convincing. Birk has a crush on Shaundi, and Male Voice 3 teases Shaundi about this. Shaundi, however, does not return Birk's feelings, and finds him extremely annoying. [reference?]
Saints Row: The Third
Edit
Depicted as a true idiot that is also narcissistic, Birk is responsible for landing the Protagonist, Shaundi and Johnny Gat in prison after setting off a silent alarm.[1] He is next seen working for S.T.A.G for publicity. The Protagonist soon seizes an opportunity to kidnap Birk in an attempt to hurt STAG, and succeeds. Later, when STAG assaults the Saint's Hideout to recover Birk, Cyrus Temple will offer the Saints the chance to turn Birk over, but Birk wishes to stay with the Saints out of an attempt to get closer to Shaundi. If he is kept he will become a homie that can be called to show up as either himself or Nyte Blayde.
Trivia
Edit
- Nyte Blade has been compared to the McBain TV series (from The Simpsons) by the writers of Saints Row: The Third, and is a radio serial that can be heard at any time.[2]
- Josh's surname may be a joke about his stupidity, as "berk" is a word meaning idiot. [3]
- He has proposed marriage to Shaundi six times.[4]
- If you have him as a homie, and you have Viola with you, he will call her a temptress and say his heart belongs to Shaundi. Viola then says she doesn't fancy him, which prompts Josh to respond with a dumbfounded "Really?", after which he calls her a "tease".
- Once he is unlocked as a homie, he can show up in two outfits: Himself (normal) & Nyte Blayde. Oddly, you can have both of them in the group at the same time.
- Josh/Nyte Blade is the only one of your homies (if you let him be one of your homies) that does not wear any purple even though he is a member of the Third Street Saints.
- Josh appears to idolize Burt Reynolds and offers him a guest appearance and main character space on Nyte Blayde. Despite this, Burt has no idea what Nyte Blayde is and he rejects Josh, telling him to go get shot.
- Despite an advertisement showing the ability to wear the Nyte Blade outfit,[What advertisement?] the player cannot.
- In the "Strap It On" trailer he is seen with a Saints purple pendant but it is absent in the game.[reference?]
- Despite his incompetence, Josh at least had the common sense in pointing out the major flaw with the bank robbery plan (i.e. the "robbing a bank dressed like yourselves" line), and somehow manages to escape police custody when they arrested the Boss, Shaundi and Johnny Gat (though this may be chalked up to dumb luck, and nothing more).
- If you listen to the in game radio Josh Birk will be heard doing an interview and he makes comments such as "my butler puts my pants on me one leg at a time, just like everyone else".
