"Gangstas in Space" is one of two final missions in Saints Row: The Third and is available after save Shaundi during "Three Way".

Overview
In this non-sequitur mission that takes place in the future on the surface of Mars, The Protagonist leads a group of Saints to finish off General Killbane, who long ago fled Steelport and has since readied an army for "an all-out attack".
The Protagonist, Pierce, Shaundi, and Johnny Gat gradually make their way to General Killbane's lair, disabling forcefields as they go. At each of the three forcefields, one of the group dies until The Protagonist is left to confront General Killbane alone.
The two face off in a cave. General Killbane claims he is The Protagonist's father and tells them that they has no chance against him since his suit is impervious to all damage except for "conveniently-placed lava crystals" that are scattered around the cave. After using the lava crystals to their advantage, The Protagonist weakens General Killbane and delivers the final blow by penetrating him with a crystal stalactite.
With General Killbane finally dead, The Protagonist reflects on the reason they came to Mars; they deliver their final monologue but appear to stammer. As The Protagonist demands their line, the camera pans out and it is suddenly revealed that this has all been principal photography for the upcoming film Gangstas in Space. The actor who plays General Killbane reassures The Protagonist on their forgetfulness and the game ends with a stagehand clapping a clapperboard with the words "Happy Ending" written on it. The credits then roll, leaving the events to be continued in Saints Row IV with Zero Saints Thirty.
Gameplay

Unlike "STAG Film", this mission continues on immediately after completing "Three Way".
- Disable the forcefields
Players must drive to three forcefields in a Saints Raider with their Homies Pierce, Shaundi, and Johnny Gat. At each forcefield, exit the vehicle and deactivate the forcefield at the nearby console.
Luchadores oppose players throughout the level but are of little threat at this stage in the game, though players only have access to a level 4 Viper Laser Rifle during this mission.
- Revive your Homie
Upon returning to the vehicle, a Homie dies and cannot be revived, first Pierce, then Shaundi, and finally Gat.
- Go to Killbane's lair
After the third forcefield is down go to Killbane's lair. Template:More
- Plant explosive charges
Place bombs on each of the two locations.
- Run for cover
Get out of range of the bombs.
- Go to Killbane's lair
head on down the straight pathway to Killbane's lair.
- Shoot lava crystals
The mission concludes with a boss fight against Killbane. As he blatantly says himself, he is immune to everything but lava crystals. As he follows the player, they must position a lava crystal (a darker shaded rock with orange spots) between him and themselves and shoot it when he gets close, damaging him. Lava crystals respawn after a while. After losing a certain amount of health, he becomes stunned – quickly go up to him and execute a "finisher" on him; after doing this a third time, he is defeated.
After the final cutscene plays, the credits roll and the mission ends. If the player has not done so already, they can replay "Three Way" and opt to "eliminate Killbane" instead, which leads to an alternate final mission, "STAG Film". Otherwise, the events continue with Zero Saints Thirty in Saints Row IV.[1]

Trivia
- This mission begins automatically after "Three Way", but it is possible to exit it. If the game is saved and reloaded, the mission begins automatically.
- Space Saints can be recruited after a homie dies. Some of them are armed with the TEK Z-10 which will replace to either a S3X Hammer or Viper Laser Rifle when within proximity. It possible for them to die, although The Protagonist does not scream when attempting to revive one.
- A few of the space Luchadores carry a S3X Hammer during this mission, but they cannot be picked up by The Protagonist. Generic Saints Homies can take the weapon however if they were armed with the TEK Z-10.
- It is possible to fail the mission if a Homie is killed before they are scripted to "die" after disabling each forcefield.
- It's possible to die in the lava even with full fire immunity.
- The Gangstas in Space franchise has been mentioned twice previously. A comic book featuring Johnny Gat is featured in "Nyte Blayde's Return", and in "Three Way", The Protagonist implies they will not appear for a screen test for the film, despite them appearing in this mission.
- The game recycles a number of props from Red Faction: Guerrilla, which also takes place on Mars, including the two-level buildings and crashed EDF gunships.
- The line The Protagonist fluffs at the end of the mission is spoken by Alec Mason at the end of Red Faction: Guerrilla; the full quote is: "I came to Mars to make a living. Keep my head down. Stay out of trouble. But I found something here I wasn't counting on. The Red Faction gave this planet a voice. Mars... gave us a home. And the dream of a new world."
- Alec Mason was voiced by Troy Baker, who also voiced Male Voice 1 in this game and Saints Row IV.
- The line The Protagonist fluffs at the end of the mission is spoken by Alec Mason at the end of Red Faction: Guerrilla; the full quote is: "I came to Mars to make a living. Keep my head down. - A billboard to the west of Espina, near the turning to Sierra Point states that the film is being directed by the director of Nyte Blayde.[3] The clapper at the end states the director is named Keith Arem, but in the Gangstas in Space DLC, Andy Zhen serves as the director.
- All of the names listed on the clapper are real life people who were involved with the development of the game: Keith Arem is credited for Talent Direction / MOCAP Direction, Ev Religioso for Cinematic Art Lead, and Ariel Gross for Audio Lead.
- During the boss fight, General Killbane uses the same animations as a Brute.
- Kinzie Kensington plays a character named Cornell, who is in love with The Protagonist's character. The actor that represents Johnny Gat may randomly announce his name as Johnny Moto. Cut dialogue names Shaundi's character Jezebel, who had a past relationship with the main character, and Pierce's character is married to a woman named Miranda, who has three children and is eight months pregnant with a fourth.
- Clichés and homages throughout this mission include:
- Pierce stating that he had "two days until retirement" upon his death. This common trope is referred to by TVTropes as "Retirony".[4]
- The characters' stilted dialogues — particularly The Protagonist — seem to parody William Shatner's performance as Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series. Indeed, much of the mission seems to pay homage to '50s and '60s science fiction.
- The background ambiance is the music from the 1953 film It Came from Outer Space.
- General Killbane states that he is The Protagonist's father and during the boss fight asks them to join him, referring to Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
- The final button pressing sequence bears some similarities with the fight between Austin Powers and Mini-Me in the film Austin Powers: the spy who shagged me.Template:Fact
- The mission rewards the player with the most cash in the Saints Row series at $100,000.
- It is possible to escape Mars by placing Satchel Charges underneath and on the front of the Saints Raider.
- It is also possible to fly back to Mars using a VTOL.
- Homies are extremely slow and laggy when in real Steelport, so it is better to wait until Johnny Gat dies to escape.
- The fight resembles the final battle of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
- Every time The Protagonist screams aloud following the "death" of a Homie, the stock sound effect of the scream when falling from great heights before opening the parachute is used.
- This mission is not counted towards 100% Completion. If all other gameplay and STAG Film are completed first, the Statistics reads 47/47 Missions without completing this one mission, and the Save file reads 100%.Template:Fact
