Description
Edit
The Protagonist and Oleg meet up with Viola DeWynter to discuss her future with the 3rd Street Saints. Nobody realized that STAG has been deployed to Steelport and that their sole purpose is to destroy the gangs of Steelport.
While Oleg, The Protagonist, and Viola are talking, STAG attacks them so they run into the nearest building, Technically Legal. From there they head up to the roof to try and find a way out of there that doesn't involve a big firefight with the STAG soldiers.
When they are on the roof there are Condors and VTOLs flying around and attacking them. One of the VTOLs shoots at Oleg and he is hurt so The Protagonist has to help him up. After he's up Oleg jumps on one of the VTOLs so that Viola and The Protagonist can escape.
After getting out of the building Viola and The Protagonist head to the Saints HQ to lay low.
Trivia
Edit
- During the cutscene of this mission Viola is clearly wearing her white sunglasses then during the actual gameplay she is wearing her purple ones.
- While The Protagonist and crew are seeking cover, a STAG sniper shoots a civilian near them.
- This is the first mission where STAG appears.
- The Condors that land on the roof can be entered by holding the enter vehicle button.
- It is possible to use the RC Possessor on most of the Condors, but none of the F-69 VTOLs.
- After escaping Technically Legal, The Protagonist recommends stealing the "cop car" outside; it's more beneficial if the player steals a nearby N-Forcer and takes that to the Saints HQ instead (Viola will use the mounted gun) and store it in the Garage after completing the mission, as the vehicle is required for a Vehicle Theft and N-Forcers disappear from the game after completing either "Gangstas in Space" or "STAG Film".
- Also, you may find the police car randomly destroyed occasionally so your only choice would be to steal a N-Forcer.
- When choosing to drive an N-Forcer during the escape from Technically Legal it is far more likely the vehicle is destroyed on the way to the main HQ since the vehicle is too slow to "outrun" the many guns firing at you on the way. The cop car is specifically chosen to drive since it can get to the HQ without too much trouble. N-Forcers can be obtained in many ways after this mission so it is not mandatory to obtain one now. Also, Viola will not use the turret on the PS3 version.
- This mission is somewhat similar to Picking a Fight; both missions introduce a new faction, both missions have a gunfight in a club, and both missions (can) have an escape with a police vehicle with police barricades. The only thing that is different from the two missions, is that the openings are different, you need to chase and destroy a van in Picking a Fight, and STAG is much, much, more tactical and has more overall vehicular reliability, than the Masako team.
- When destroying the scripted VTOLs, they will suddenly disappear. This is because they aren't supposed to be destroyed. Additionally, the pilots will be invincible to all forms of damage, even attacks that would normally instantly kill them (i.e. Human Shield executions). [1]
- The VTOL that Oleg jumps on is impossible to destroy.
- Oleg will always throw a barrel off the roof.
- Oleg's fight with the VTOL is a completely scripted sequence, as is his becoming injured, which happens for no reason.
- Using the Sonic Boom on the door which you come out from on the roof will open it, but you will fall through the ground and respawn in New Baranec, and will fail the mission for abandoning homies.
- If you approach the Saints HQ from the west, a tank will be guarding the bridge. But it will quickly be destroyed by Oleg with the VTOL he jumped on earlier.
- Following the path set out by the GPS you will pass two N-Forcers and a Tank. It is possible to commandeer this tank during this mission.
- The "Jessica" referred to by Commander Temple in the end cutscene is Maero's girlfriend from Saints Row 2, and the "gang-banger" is actually The Protagonist, who was trying to put pressure on Maero and the Brotherhood. Maero drives the monster truck over the car with Jessica inside, then gets out to see The Protagonist slowly clapping. The Protagonist then throws Maero a set of car keys that says "Jess" with letter beads on the key ring, leading Maero to realize he had just crushed his girlfriend.[2]
- The Thermopylae appears in Steelport after completion of this mission.
- Despite appearing in a cutscene during this mission, it is not actually present during the mission.
- The view of the Thermopylae during the mission is impossible, and is not where the Thermopylae is located anyway.
- STAG will be occupying the city after completing this mission and many STAG soldiers will roam the streets. The occasional N-Forcer will drive through the streets of Steelport as well.
