SR disambig icon This article is about the vehicle. For the diversion, see Tow Truck.

The Shaft is a vehicle in Saints Row 2 and Saints Row (reboot).

Overview[]

The Shaft is a unique vehicle which can tow any land vehicle. When towing a vehicle, steering is affected, and the towed vehicle moves independently which can cause damage to your Shaft and the towed vehicle. Even when avoiding collisions, the towed vehicle is likely to lose bumpers and spoiler kits.

It spawns in many neighborhoods around Stilwater, but the only place it spawns at night is in the Downtown District.

When entering this vehicle, there is a prompt to start the Tow Truck Diversion, completing this unlocks a custom Saints Shaft in the Garage.

No Chop Shops are searching for this vehicle.

Controls[]

When there is a vehicle directly behind the Shaft, there is an onscreen message with the Controls to tow a vehicle. During the Tow Truck Diversion, towing the wrong car shows an on-screen message to release the vehicle which is not shown at any other time.

On Xbox 360 and PS3, the Shaft controls are the same regardless of which Control Scheme is selected.

  • The control to tow a vehicle is 360 lb + 360 rb
  • The control to release a vehicle is 360 lsc

On PC, the Shaft controls vary depending on how Controls are defined

Performance[]

The Shaft is one of the trickiest vehicles to drive. Its front wheels do not center quickly when the steering wheel is released making it hard to perform minor course corrections. The handbrake just brings the vehicle to a regular stop and does not help in getting around corners. Handling improves when a light vehicle such as a Halberd is being towed, but a heavy vehicle causes extreme amounts of over-steering.

Modifications[]

The Shaft has a total of 5 Vehicle Customization options. It does not have Hydraulics available. The available Wheel Sizes are 14-19 and the available Wheel Widths are 2–4.
