SNG

The SNG or Steelport National Guard, is a Military divisional Law Enforcement in both Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV.

Overview[]

The SNG is in close association with the Steelport Police, and come after the Playa at high levels of Police Notoriety.

Their main base of operations is located in Sierra Point, between Downtown and New Colvin. Despite being stationed on a small island, they have large numbers of arsenal, including attack vehicles and a 15,000lb^{[Reference needed]} bomb that later gets stolen by the Saints.^[1] The SNG is the fifth level of law enforcement before STAG's arrival, after which, STAG replaces them, and are rarely ever seen present until the end of the game/story.

The SNG also make an appearance in the first mission of the Gangstas in Space DLC during the shooting of a scene which takes place at Sierra Point. They then later pursue Jenny Jaros and the Playa through Downtown until the Space Amazons begin to intervene.^[2] Later the SNG attempts to gun down both Jenny and the Playa during the final missions film sequence.^[3]

The SNG also play a fairly big role in the The Trouble With Clones DLC as an antagonistic force who are ordered on a mission to kill the mutated clone version of Gat, Johnny Tag.

They appear in Saints Row IV operating in Virtual Steelport in the exact same locations they did in Saints Row: The Third. Similar to Saints Row: The Third, they attack Playa at any given Notoriety level.

In Kinzie's Loyalty mission "Kinzie's Adventures" they are found out to be led by the virtual figment of corrupt former STAG commander and terrorist Cyrus Temple.

Their uniforms consist of tan-coloured tactical vests and woodland khaki camouflage fatigues.

Vehicles[]

Bulldog - A fast response offroad utility vehicle. Available with or without a mounted machine gun on the roof.
Bear - A desert tan coloured 6-wheeled Armoured personnel carrier. Used mainly for roadblocks at level 5 Notoriety.
Challenger - A fully equipped tank. Armed with main cannon, co-axial machine gun and a roof-mounted machine gun.
Tornado - A desert tan coloured attack helicopter. On the helipad south of the Guard Armory.
Eagle - A multipurpose helicopter. One version used for transport, while the other is made for combat purposes with machine guns and rocket launcher pods. Found at the helipads in the south-eastern part of Sierra Point.
Vulture - An attack helicopter. Armed with a slow-rate auto-cannon and two rocket pods. It is unlocked after completing "Trojan Whores".
Commander - An armed boat with a mounted rocket launcher and machine gun. Unlocked after purchasing Rondini's Boat Dock.

Trivia[]

Although SNG is highly inferred to mean "Steelport National Guard", that term is not used in-game, the terms "SNG" and "Steelport Guard" are rather commonly used instead.
The "Steelport Guard Uniform" can be found available for purchase at Let's Pretend, under the Suits category.
They have their own unique decal textures for all their vehicles, with some even interestingly including the Saint of Saints.
Their coat of arms is Mr. Toots, a My Little Pony-style unicorn and novelty weapon in another one of Volition, Inc.'s based games: Red Faction: Armageddon.
Unlike many other law enforcement agencies that appeared in the series, the SNG are the only ones to not have a reputation of being corrupt in the payroll hands of an antagonist faction.
