The Alaskan is a vehicle in Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third.[1]

Overview[]

The Alaskan has a pickup truck rear end and a 4-door 'Crew Cab' styling. It is one of the Brotherhood's gang vehicles, which spawns at level 4 Brotherhood Notoriety and is unlocked in the Garage after defeating them.[2]

The Alaskan commonly spawns in the Trailer Park, Downtown, Red Light and Projects District and is wanted by the Chop Shop in the Downtown District, which gives $1,750 and 400 Respect in exchange when delivered for the first time. Unlike the Brotherhood Swindle and Legion, it doesn't spawn in their turf at anything less than level 4 notoriety.

In Ultor Exposed, the green Chop Shop variant of the Alaskan must be used to complete the first mission "Weekend at Tera's".

Performance[]

The Alaskan is one of the more powerful trucks in the game, and is powered by what sounds like a large V8 connected to a 4-wheel drive powertrain. This leads to good acceleration and a slightly above average top speed. It is one of the best off-roading trucks in the game and can climb steep hills and large boulders without many difficulties. Its handling is also good for its size, but the soft suspension in tight high-speed turns make it "bounce", i.e. when two wheels come off the road surface and then make contact with it again, repeating throughout the entirety of the turn. A similar problem plagues the Thorogood. One large plus with the Alaskan is that it can take quite a lot of damage, even in stock configuration.

In Saints Row: The Third, the Alaskan spins more easily.

Trivia[]

  • There is no Cheat for this vehicle in any game.
  • The Alaskan most likely gets its name from the Chevrolet Avalanche as there are many mountains in Alaska known for their numerous avalanches.
  • The Alaskan is similar to a mid 1980s GMC Suburban that is mixed with a little bit of a Tahoe Look, but its style is also close to newer trucks like the Chevrolet Avalanche and the Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
  • An Alaskan along with a Bulldog and a Thorogood always spawn at Friendly Fire in Rosen Oaks.
  • There is an Alaskan in the PAX Demo for Saints Row IV, but it doesn't appear in the game itself.[3][4]
  • Ramming small cars like the Solar may end in the car clipping or being thrown in to the air
  • The font used for the Alaskan's logo is “Chiller”, a commonly used horror-themed font. It is intended to resemble letters written in splattered blood or mud.
    • Alternatively, sticking with the horror theme, full size General Motors SUVs such as the Suburban and Escalade are an extremely common choice of vehicle for the victims in modern horror and slasher films to drive.
