References[]

As this article is about an unreleased game, everything that is known about it must be online, therefore there should be references for every single item. The same goes for all articles regarding Saints Row: The Third. -452 09:21, June 26, 2011 (UTC)

So when do we remove the un-sourced weapons? --Reversinator 02:54, July 23, 2011 (UTC)
I like to wait a couple of weeks, but you're free to remove anything you think is incorrect immediately. Just be sure to use an appropriate edit summary so people know why you're removing something. -452 03:06, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

11[]

only 11 geez i can buy more at a gun store and where's the katana (Unsigned: 173.72.207.27 01:58, 29 October 2011)

Eleven weapons with confirmed names. Obviously there's going to be a lot more than these... And sign your posts with ~~~~ please. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 01:20, October 29, 2011 (UTC)
Oh, and there's more than eleven listed on the page. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 01:21, October 29, 2011 (UTC)
No those aren't really guns in a way because they are stuck on tanks and or vtols so there is only 11 Zombo-tech (talk) 03:43, January 26, 2013 (UTC)
There are 32 Weapons in Saints Row: The Third. -452 15:27, January 26, 2013 (UTC)

Nocturne?[]

I'm guessing that the Nocturne is Nyte Blade's sword/katana/whatever. Seeing as Josh carries two swords on his back when wearing the costume, maybe they're bringing back Jyunichi's dual-wield feature from SR2? (unsigned: User:Trollyfaec 14:26, November 15, 2011)

Sonic Boom = Laser Gun.[]

I think we should merge the Sonic Boom and Laser Gun articles, because (judging by the screenshots) they look like the same weapon. (unsigned: User:Trollyfaec 14:30, November 15, 2011)

you're right, I'll remove the laser gun from this page and add the trivia to the sonic boom. Sjacie 10:10, November 24, 2011 (UTC)
Edit: I can't edit this page :( and it's far from complete. (unsigned: Sjacie 10:11, November 24, 2011)

Updating this page[]

This page is locked so I'll note here what needs to be updated.

  • SMG has a cyber blaster which is not noted on the page.
  • The Laser gun needs to be removed. It's called the Sonic Boom.
  • The category special is typed in a different format than the rest of the subtopics.
  • Melee has an empty point which needs to be removed.
  • And all weapons that do need have a link yet need to get one.

Sjacie 10:15, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

Alright, I've updated the page as best as I can, and have unprotected it too as the game is out and all the weapons in the game are now known and don't really need citations. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 15:44, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Weapons?[]

Quarter Circle Punch and Saints Pow - are they weapons or not? --452 23:00, April 13, 2012 (UTC)

You do get abilities during the "Send in the Clones" mission, but I don't know where people are getting these names from - I don't think they appear in the weapon wheel. Nothing conclusive, unfortunately, as I've only seen videos of the DLC. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 23:20, April 13, 2012 (UTC)
The good news is, and related to what we were talking about here, is someone has kindly provided the DLC data files, I just haven't had a change to look through the yet. (And moved them off my laptop yesterday) --452 23:47, April 13, 2012 (UTC)
What, all the DLC files (so far)? That's pretty cool. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 11:33, April 14, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, unfortunately, since these are the xbox DLC files, and the xbox format is different from the PC format, a lot of stuff is useless. But the xtbl files are readable. Perhaps one day we will have access to the DLC images.
The point: confirmed Quarter Circle Punch and Saints Pow are weapons. --452 23:48, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

Desert Eagle[]

is the desert eagle even a gn in saints row 3 if not can someone delete i.176.248.221.60 10:52, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

A vandal added it and has since been blocked. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 11:33, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

Throwing Weapons[]

Where are the called "Throwing Weapons" anyway?
I just assumed whoever originally wrote that was correct, but the term "throwing weapons" doesn't appear in the game text.

Search for "throw*" only reveals these relevant strings

  • "WPNCAT_THROWN":"THROWN"
  • "ACT_VANDAL_THROWN_MSG":"THROWN WEAPON"
  • "STAT_WEAPON_THROWN":"THROWN"
  • "STAT_THROWN_HIT_PCT":"THROWN WEAPON HIT PERCENTAGE"
  • "STAT_THROWN_WEAPON_USES":"THROWN WEAPONS USED"
  • "WPN_STORE_THROWN_TITLE":"THROWN"

File:Thrown Weapon Menu in Friendly Fire in Saints Row The Third.png Image illustrating what it says in the filename. The category is "Thrown", exactly as it was in Saints Row and Saints Row 2.
Adding false information is vandalism, because the presence of false information undermines the credibility of this wiki. This wiki contains many facts which are not widely known, as they were found through inspection of the data files, which is something most users don't do. If a random user sees one thing they can prove is false, then when they see a fact they cannot check themselves, they are more likely to assume it is also a fabrication. --452 22:28, July 27, 2012 (UTC)
The poetic thing about all this is I tried very hard to keep this article free from false information, and fact tags were added for unverified information, and currently contains references for every single weapon - but the category names were never questioned. This only strengthens the policy of "don't add anything without a reference", and will serve as a fine example of what happens if unverified facts are not questioned. --452 22:33, July 27, 2012 (UTC)
The plot thickens, I'm still going through the history, but this time last year, the article said "Thrown". (Edit: I added that title originally) Which means someone changed it from the correct title to an incorrect title, which is inarguably vandalism, so someone is probably going to get blocked over this. --452 22:36, July 27, 2012 (UTC)
The source of this information has been determined to be V-Singular from the saintsrow.com - unfortunately, he's not a user here, but if he ever edits here, he will be blocked immediately for disseminating false information. --452 22:42, July 27, 2012 (UTC)
As this is not the first time information he has provided has been proven incorrect, at this point V-Singular is not a "reliable source". If he is ever contradicted by any other source, the other source overrules anything he says. --452 22:45, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

Rewriting[]

I'm about to replace this page with the full list of weapons and statistics from the game files, as such the existing references - to where the information was learned - is no longer strictly necessary, since I am not creating a derivative article, I am completing rewriting the article, with the game files are the source of the information.

  • References may not normally be removed, however the source of the information is changing.
  • Technically, as I'm replacing the article rather than making a derivative, the page history will provides attribution to editors of past derivatives do not legally require attribution, as none of the former content will be part of the new page.

The point is: should I re-add the "original source" links anyway? I think I probably will, just because they're there and it's no skin off my nose to re-add them. It should probably be a point of policy to always retain references if at all possible. --452 03:09, August 8, 2012 (UTC)

Do they really need to stay (or be re-added, rather) though? I mean, would the old references serve a purpose at this point, now that the game is out and we have better sources? – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 23:32, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
As-is, the references serve to demonstrate when they were first revealed - although they should probably be converted to "The bangbanggun was first revealed in overhypedtrailer" with the existing link retained.
...which completely answers my question, so I'll do exactly that. Thanks! --452 23:59, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
And done, although the copy/pasting all the references to the trivia section was long and annoying, so I wish I'd just deleted them instead.
There's some misleading information in the data files, such as the SMGs having alt fire - do they launch grenades? -452 03:02, August 26, 2012 (UTC)

Details[]

Temporary Penetrator during Murderbrawl

Temporary Penetrator during Murderbrawl

There's some details I added that I can't actually find in the data files now. Specifically, the Temporary Baseball Bat which uses The Penetrator model. Clearly, I didn't make up that information, but I can't find it now. Weapons.xtbl even says it uses the default baseball bat model!

It is thoroughly bizarre and is doing my head in. So much so that I just added it as a cheat, and checked within the Murderbrawl mission: the information is true, I'm just not sure where I got the information in the first place. (Despite it using the same model, it is a copy of The Penetrator model which is only loaded during the mission, so it is invisible outside the mission, not entirely sure why right now.)

A possible clue, however, is that ALL of the temp weapons during Murderbrawl except the Blowup Doll are defined as using the same Baseball Bat model despite them obviously not. There are clearly some shenanigans going on in the game files.

...wait a minute, where are the objects defined? items_3d, of course. Ah. The problem was that I had overwritten the items_3d.xtbl in my search directory with the highly processed version I used to make the Objects list on this page. I had to re-extract all the game files again to find the original.

It's been a while, so I guess I'm going to re-extract all game files, just to be certain there aren't any others I've mistakenly overwritten.

I'm going to leave this here as a note to myself the next time I can't find something. 452 19:37, September 4, 2019 (UTC)
