Stored Boat Delivery[]

I have found an interesting bug with stored vehicle delivery, I got out of a boat and called my homie to get a car, but was shown the boat garage list instead, with no way to switch the car list. I chose a boat, and my homie did eventually arrived with it. Perhaps it was because I was last in a boat, or maybe it was because the boat garage was the last garage I used. 452 02:53, February 3, 2011 (UTC)

It seems to be when you call them when your near water. Tom Talk 16:31, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, and it must be on some sort of timer, because there has been several times when I've exited a boat, run to the road, called Stored Vehicle Delivery and had the boat list come up. :/ I had added the info to the Garage page, but forgot I had left this message here. -452 16:43, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
Since my last comment, I've been standing on a stretch of road near water, periodically calling Stored Vehicle Delivery, and it has not changed from the boat list. Looks like it isn't on a timer, the areas where it is triggered are just ill-defined and overlap on some stretches of road. Even entering a passing vehicle doesn't change it back to the car list. (For reference, the stretch of road I was on was near the Saints Row Mega Condo, halfway between the garage and the hospital overpass, I walked directly from the shore to the fence on the far side of the road) -452 17:59, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
Further experimentation in the same area: south of the garage, there is a fence which runs east-west, if you are standing on the other side of the road in line with that fence, standing north of the fenceline will bring up the Car list, standing South will bring up the boat list. This proves that it is not based on actual distance from water, but that there are defined areas where the boat list will be shown. Curiously, the boat list is also shown when you are standing in a pond or swimming pool, so may also be triggered simply from being in water, in addition to the defined areas. -452 18:08, April 2, 2011 (UTC)

Proposed merge[]

I propose that this article be merged with Homies. Reasons:

  • This article is not much more than a list.
  • There is already a list of the Homies page.
  • There is no "Homies in Saints Row" article.
  • Anyone searching for "Homies", or clicking a link to "Homies" is going to end up on Homies, where there is already a list.
  • The only page which links here is a redirect page.

While there are many articles which support dual "X in Saints Row" and "X in Saints Row 2" articles, this one does not. -452 15:22, April 2, 2011 (UTC)

I had completely forgotten about this article. Merging now. -452 15:50, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
The fact that Homies in Saints Row 2 and Homies were merged in the past does not preclude a split in the future, if Homies is of sufficient size. However, since much of the description of Homies would be the same, it makes sense at this time to keep it as a single article. --452 00:19, May 7, 2012 (UTC)

Im confused about luz[]

I found this. File:Homie_luz_unlock.jpg - James3456 22:48, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

Exactly where did you find it? -452 22:55, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

*raging*[]

Okay, I'm confused about Homies in SR:TT. I can't call more than one homie at once and there are numerous screenshots with multiple ones. HOW TH-- FFF.

Is it a bug, or..does the game hate me? (unsigned: Trollyfaec 14:30, December 6, 2011)

What exactly do you mean? You mean like having Shaundi and Pierce at once, or having 2 Shaundis at the same time? --452 22:00, June 8, 2012 (UTC)
I'm removing the discussion tag from this, since you have not replied. I assume that you never bought the homie upgrade. -452 21:07, February 6, 2013 (UTC)

Giant Ball[]

The game references a "Giant Ball" homie. Anyone know what this is? --452 02:57, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

It would appear that this is Yarnie. --452 02:16, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
Or not, Yarnie's internal name is "sp_mdsphere_genki", and is classed as a tank. So the question is: does Yarnie control the same as the Giant ball used in game? --452 16:08, April 25, 2012 (UTC)
Giant Ball is Yarnie, apparently it was renamed. As
  • sp_mdsphere - used in The Belgian Problem, does not appear elsewhere
  • sp_mdsphere2 - referenced by disabled Cheat, does not appear elsewhere - assumed to be original unused Giant Ball homie
  • sp_mdsphere_genki - Yarnie, stats similar to sp_mdsphere2, assumed to be replacement for unused Giant Ball homie
--452 00:19, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
The game crashes if you try to enable the sp_mdsphere2. I haven't fully explored whether it is possible to fix it, but it would appear that it was shipped incomplete. --452 22:15, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

head of Andy Zhen[]

One question: Have you managed to extract the head of Andy Zhen. The need for an infobox--Chiquito 19:52, May 29, 2012 (UTC)

Where did you get these images?
--452 20:52, May 29, 2012 (UTC)
I downloaded the photos from a Chilean web (And more). Further the extract on my own game files (also frequented forums Xentax and more forums on file extraction). Any problem?. That was not the answer to my question above. Someone can answer me?--Chiquito 08:38, May 30, 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I have the head of Andy Zhen, (and many many more images).
You did not extract those images from your own game files, because those images are not in the game files exactly like that. Please give me the original links where you downloaded those 2 files. --452 13:42, May 30, 2012 (UTC)
And exactly how do you explain this: http://es.saintsrow.wikia.com/wiki/Veh%C3%ADculos_de_Saints_Row_2 ? --452 13:57, May 30, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, and everyone can make free use of my images without problems.--Chiquito 14:08, May 30, 2012 (UTC)
"I honestly do not know how this works".
What do you not understand?
"A wiki is not a web."
A wiki is a website.
I did not ask about "Bugas_de_Gata_Sexy" and "Hombrepulta". I do not care about those pages, or those images.
I am talking about these two images:
Where did you get those two images? --452 14:17, May 30, 2012 (UTC)
The source of these images is this wiki.
I modified this file before I originally uploaded it, so if you compare the modification time in the exif data, you can see they are the same image. You did not extract this image from the game data, I did, and then I modified the file.
You are free to use these images, but you must remember to attribute the source of the image.

Flying aircraft[]

I had long thought that Homies couldn't fly aircraft, but it looks like they can in SRTT. During We're Going to Need Guns, I stole an Eagle, and took off before Shaundi could get in. So she went and got in a different Eagle. Unfortunately, it exploded immediately, I'm not sure if that was due to gunfire, or that Shaundi is the worst pilot ever. (Semi-related note: editing the data files so that the Helicopter Homie drives a Giant plane doesn't work too well, the plane is truly massive, and doesn't spawn high enough off the ground to avoid an instant crash. I haven't yet tried from a rooftop, I should do that. I don't have high hopes for the Homie to ever land it successfully.) --452 01:30, June 16, 2012 (UTC)

Yes this can happen the the mission, My name is Cyrus Temple. Pearce didn't get in the VTOL that Me and Viola got in and he got in an Eagle instead and followed me. Matt Seay (talk) 23:40, March 23, 2013 (UTC)

Homie conversations[]

So I'm currently working on transcribing the audio, but I can't tell what Zimos is saying to Shaundi in his final line in this convo; "Oh shit, I didn't recognize you without the dreads, [something something]". Any ideas? – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 22:03, July 29, 2012 (UTC)

"Irie". (random: DJ Irie is the DJ for Sizzurp) --452 22:12, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
Today I have learned a word. Thanks. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 22:14, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
In-article we should probably link to either irie or Iyaric, as I'm sure most people wouldn't know what it means. Slightly odd that Zimos uses it, since he doesn't use any other Iyaric. Perhaps if he wasn't autotuned he'd have a Rastafarian accent. --452 22:23, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
I can imagine that. I added a link to irie, and it's probably worth mentioning about Iyaric on the Zimos article. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 16:36, July 30, 2012 (UTC)
I realized later that the reason for including "irie" was related to the dreads. I'm so used to dreads being commonplace outside of Rasta, it went right over my head.
I see you're done with the transcripts. Nice work, as usual! --452 23:02, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

DLC Homies[]

Do any of the DLC Homies in Saints Row: The Third initiate conversations with other Homies? -Falloutghoul (talk) 15:54, October 30, 2012 (UTC)

No heli homie?[]

I bought the heli homie option a long time ago, but I've never gotten the ability to summon him. Have the vehicle and tank delivery, and most of the named sidekicks (I'm 90% in control of the city, and have only done missions up through getting the HQ crib and Kinzie, been doing the other stuff). I thought it was because I didn't actually OWN any helicopters, but I've since snagged an Oppressor and a Vulture, and still no show. (PC steam version. I keep running into these weird problems. :P ). --Azaram (talk) 07:13, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

You really do keep running into weird problems!
He's normally listed in the cellphone as "Helicopter", when I unlocked him he appeared immediately.
As with the Tank and VTOL homies, the Heli homie brings his own helicopter, not one from the garage, so not owning a helicopter doesn't effect it.
I really don't know what else to tell you, sorry. --452 07:29, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, me either. :P Got the tank, got the VTOL, then 'police forgiveness'. Shows that he's bought in the gang abilities page. :P I didn't think it was necessary to have your own helicopter, but it was the only thing I could think of. Only one I can think of now is that while he was in the thing to be bought, there's a mission you have to do to make him available. Still working on all the side mission stuff, the only activities I have left are a couple of hard heli assault and all of the 'snatch' missions, because fnck Snatch. :P --Azaram (talk) 08:48, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
I don't think there's going to be a mission which will unlock him, sounds like you're just unlucky and ran into another glitch.
One thing I remember reading is that saving and reloading immediately after unlocking something sometimes glitches. So maybe you bought it, then saved and reloaded, but the game registered only half of the unlock process. I know the game autosaves after buying things, perhaps you reloaded the autosave?
Pretty stupid glitch, I know, it shouldn't be programmed like that, it should just have the "this is unlocked" registered in a single place.
I just remembered that you're playing on PC - I can do is make a quick mod for you so one of your Homies drives a helicopter instead of a car. Let me know which Homie you want to arrive in a helicopter, and which helicopter you want.  :) --452 23:55, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Picture with Homies[]

I think there needs to be a picture of the protag with homies in game. I can take one and see if that would be good for the article. Matt Seay (talk) 23:02, March 23, 2013 (UTC)

Cooldown timer[]

What is the cooldown timer for ringing Homies again in Saints Row: The Third? Is it always the same? For example, if I use Police Forgiveness on a certain ridiculous Vehicle Theft, how long until I can call again? – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 21:55, April 14, 2013 (UTC)

That's a really good question, and one which aught to be in the data files somewhere. I'll look into it. -452 02:14, April 15, 2013 (UTC)
Not looking good so far. It's not defined in the homie file, it's not defined in the lua script file, another it is referenced as "is_available". I just can't find where "is_available" is referenced elsewhere. I've searched all files for "cooldown" and "is_available" without success.
It may be hardcoded in the exe, which means someone, possibly you, is going to have to sit there checking the cellphone every 5 minutes until the homie becomes available again.
I'll keep looking for a little while longer. -452 02:40, April 15, 2013 (UTC)
After I quick google search, I found a thread on the saintsrow forums, where someone said it was supposed to be 15 minutes. That may help narrow it down at least. -452 02:46, April 15, 2013 (UTC)
I looked at the files another way, and found the function used to call the homies, "cellphone_dial", but the function isn't in any of the script files, so it must be in the exe, and that function is also sets whether the homie "is_available". So yeah, I can't give you a definitive answer. It doesn't look like the modding community have had luck with that either, their only fix is to edit the save file to set the homie as available. (In theory, it should be possible to edit the cell_phone.lua script file so that the cellphone completely ignores whether a homie set as unavailable, and just load them all normally. Now that I've thought of it, I'm going to have to try it out myself.) -452 03:23, April 15, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for taking the time to look through all that. Hopefully in Saints Row IV they'll have an on-screen timer or some kind of visual effect, as this mostly-arbitrary lockout is one of the reasons I don't use Homies. Also, I just read online that apparently you can quit out of the game and, once loaded back up, it's gone. I did try quitting back to the main menu before and that didn't work. I'll try that next time I play. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 18:56, April 15, 2013 (UTC)
NP, it's definitely the type of info we should have here, I've just never really thought about it myself.
I would definitely assume that quitting without saving would wipe the lockout, but I can confirm that I have loaded a save file before and found that some recently used homies were locked out. I haven't noticed any long-term "homie lockout" bug, but I don't really use homies either.
I tried editing the lua script file, with no success. I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong, or if it's just not possible. I'm not going to mess around with it any further though.
And I ran out of time testing other things before getting around to manually timing how long the lockouts last. -452 02:32, April 16, 2013 (UTC)
It works! I phoned Zimos, dismissed him, saved the game, Dashboarded out, loaded it back up, and I can ring him again. Don't know if this is worth noting, but I'm playing on an unpatched version of the game. – Moozipan Cheese(talk page) 13:45, April 16, 2013 (UTC)
15 minutes seems about right, it's around 3 City Income cycles. -452 17:23, July 8, 2013 (UTC)
Actually, I'm going to have to re-check that, because a City Income cycle is supposed to be 15 minutes itself. -452 17:26, July 8, 2013 (UTC)

Saints Row IV Conversations[]

The homies in SR4 can have conversations with each other as they could in SR3. So we want to take the conversations from 3 and 4 and move them to individual pages or add the conversations from 4 into this page? Zadidoll (talk) 16:58, August 23, 2013 (UTC)

Cool. Unfortunately, I can't automatically piece together the conversations, because there's no subtitles. But I will locate the audio files and upload them.
Right now, all Homie conversations are transcluded from this page, so doing that would break them - all character pages using them will need to be updated.
That's a good idea, although it might be worth just including them on each character page instead. They're all listed on Portal:Quotes anyway, so it does seem kinda silly having a list here. -452 17:05, August 23, 2013 (UTC)
Disregard that last part.
And the first part! When I said "I can't automatically piece together the conversations", I was wrong. Although there were no subtitles, there was enough metadata to let me piece them together.
Since the Homie Conversations section is so damn long, it's probably worth splitting them. I'm just not sure whether it's worth it. (Also "Homie Conversations", or "Homie conversations" as the page name?) -452 13:28, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
Something needs to be done, because this page is far too long, and takes a long time to load. It is second in size only to Customization Items, and is 3 times the size of the next largest, Newscasts.
After thinking about this some more, it would probably make more sense to split these pages into Homies in Saints Row, Homies in Saints Row 2, Homies in Saints Row: The Third and Homies in Saints Row IV.
To avoid duplicate information, common information can stay on Homies, while each individual pages can have the homie list, conversations trivia, and game-specific glitches.
The only trouble is that there is no precedent for having a single page AND a series of "in Saints Row X" pages: There are no articles named "Characters", "Missions", "Vehicles" or "Weapons", for example. All pages are either split by game, or combined on the same page. Not both.
The easier, and most obvious, option is to just move the Homie conversations to Homie conversations. "Newscasts" gives a precedent doing this, since it's also a list of transcripts which are not technically an in-game entity.
The difficulty with either is that the transcluded Homie Conversations on each character page will have to be updated. -452 (talk) 18:58, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
For reference, the page is currently 245211 characters, 206028 of which is the Homie conversations, 39183 is everything else. So the Homie Conversations page would still be the second longest page on the wiki. The SRIV section alone is 189571 characters... So even splitting to Homies in Saints Row IV or Homie conversations in Saints Row IV would make it the second longest page on the wiki. -452 (talk) 19:07, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
I've managed to reduce the SRIV conversations down to 122,279 characters, but that would still make it the second longest page.
There is one more trick I could try, which would be to template each row, which would reduce it to around 85,000 characters. But I'm not sure whether it would work. (Although Template:field does something similar, so it probably will work.) -452 (talk) 19:51, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
However, doing this would only reduce the size of the source, NOT the size of the rendered HTML. So the edit page might load slightly faster, but the viewable page wouldn't. There is no way to reduce the size of the rendered page without sacrificing usefulness. -452 (talk) 19:53, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
Splitting conversations now. -452 06:02, November 9, 2015 (UTC)

Saints Row Icons[]

Does anybody happen to have access to or the ability to add the icons for  Saints Row homies? It feels a bit odd to have text-only descriptions of the homies from the first game, while there are pictures for all homies from other games. I know that it is harder to get homie icons from Saints Row since it is Xbox 360 exclusive, but somebody has to know how to peek around in the game's files and upload those homie icons.

(table of requested icons removed by 452 due to length and redundancy: The list is already in the article.)

OoppDecks (talk) 15:15, February 15, 2015 (UTC)

As noted elsewhere, Saints Row images are not in the same format as later images. That's why we don't have ...any Saints Row-specific extracted images. I've requested help from the modding community before - but I have found them to be incredibly unhelpful people, who are more interested in promoting themselves than helping others, and because they personally have no use for the files, they have refused to help others extract them. (They also have the kneejerk reaction of "NO CONSOLE MODDING!@$#%ERGH" if you even mention it.)
I have the packed image files, and will gladly provide them to anyone who would like to help unpack/decode/decrypt/extract them.
The normal alternative is to take high quality screenshots of Saints Row and crop the images neatly. I believe I've asked User:Kar33m368 about this in the past, but he appears to have disappeared. (I think there was one other user taking high quality Saints Row screenshots, but I forget who it was.) Feel free to contact User:Kar33m368 on his Message Wall. -452 (talk) 15:29, February 15, 2015 (UTC)
I just checked, I hadn't mentioned the Homie icons, just the weapon icons - still, feel free to contact him. -452 (talk) 15:31, February 15, 2015 (UTC)

Saints Row: The Third Homies and more than 2 vehicles[]

In SR: TT I have encountered 2 Homies driving their own vehicle when following the player who's driving on their own (the Homies were Shaundi and Pierce. Shaundi was driving a Peacemaker, Pierce was driving a Widowmaker and the player was driving a Kenshin) I haven't tried with 3 Homies because Kinzie is still blocked since the other day and I haven't helped Angel and Zimos yet with their missions. TayMan001 (talk) 18:36, September 12, 2015 (UTC)

Civilian Homie glitch[]

A new user added the following glitch "To do this glitch you need to equip the mind control blast and a Genki Manapult. First find a civilian or a ZPD officer and blast the mind control at them then get in genki manapault and suck the mind controlled person and throw it out the genki manapault and it will become a homie."
I have attempted to follow these directions several times, and have been unable to obtain this result.
I've asked User:Cfriyfx for additional information, and the glitch has been removed until enough information has been provided to replicate the glitch. -452 05:41, September 3, 2016 (UTC)

In the chat, TheMoonLightman has uncovered additional requirements to trigger this glitch reliably, as well as the fact that it also works in Saints Row: The Third. -452 06:34, September 3, 2016 (UTC)
