Okay so i couldn't post a link to the protagonist page because some dumbfuck changed the name to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzhax or whatever... no big deal though... --Wil017 21:51, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

I tried to change it, too. I just can't figure out how to re-direct a page.
Nevermind! I think I just fixed it!

title[]

This is "Car Mechanic", rather than just "Mechanic" because the subtitle of all Semi-Broken and Rim Jobs stores is "Car Mechanic, therefore that is the name of the class of stores. :-452 20:44, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

about split articles.[]

  • 2011-02-05, user452 merges page with Car Mechanic and creates redirect.
  • 2011-03-20, user452 splits Car Mechanic and moves info to this page

Before anyone mentions it, I want to address that I am not being inconsistent. My original reason for merging the info was that both pages were small and contained much of the same information. Since that time, Car Mechanic has grown significantly, and it is possible to have separate articles which are decently sized with minimal overlap. Both articles are appropriately linked to each other, and clearly state their purpose, so their should be no confusion: This article is about the store itself, while Vehicle Customization is about vehicle modifications. -452 03:40, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

Saints Row The Third[]

Boy does Rim Jobs look depressing for how much the game was supposed to have evolved; still no decal editor or custom paint selector at the vey least. (unsigned: JBanton 17:14, October 20, 2011)

Can't store vehicles in SR:3, and no Challenger customization?[]

I can buy the stores, well enough, and if I drive something into it, I can customize it. But if it's not a car I already own, I'm never given the choice to add it to my garage. No key icon in the bay.

In addition, the article mentions that you can customize the Challenger tank, but Rim Jobs said 'Non-customizable vehicle', and the crib garage only gives 'retrieve' and 'cancel' as options. This is all on the PC version from Steam. --Azaram (talk) 16:22, July 20, 2012 (UTC)

Usually, the only time that there's no icon in the bay is if you have Notoriety. I've stolen cars off the street and driven them in to be customized without a problem.
Perhaps your garage is full? While I haven't encountered that in SRTT, and it doesn't occur in SR1 or SR2, it's conceivable that if your garage is full, it wouldn't let you customize it as it's not possible to store it.
As the article says, The Challenger can only be customized by using the glitch. --452 23:49, July 20, 2012 (UTC)
Derp re the Challenger, I managed to misread that entirely somehow. But my garage isn't full, and while I sometimes have notoriety when I go in there, not always. I can take the same vehicle to a crib's garage and add/customize with no trouble. Just never get the option at a Rim Job's. --Azaram (talk) 07:22, July 22, 2012 (UTC)

Duplication glitch[]

Ok, figured out how it works. Unlike a crib, when you drive into a rim jobs in a new car, it apparently just adds it straight away. I finally managed to get my hands on an Attrazione (holy CRAP does that car haul ass) and drove it into a Rim Jobs to test. I hit customize, and had two of them listed, both identical. I'd never gotten hold of one before, either they vanished on me when I turned around, or got away before I could jack them. It never said 'Press E to add to your garage', it just did it. I still haven't managed to get the glitch to work on any normally non customizable vehicle. --Azaram (talk) 16:58, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

I always like to have an Attrazione as the first car in my garage. :)
Yes, Rim Jobs doesn't say "Press E to add to your garage", it's added automatically after customizing it.
But 2 cars shouldn't be displayed in the garage list. That's weird. Were the rest of the cars in your garage displayed normally? --452 05:17, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, the rest of the cars were normal, including the two Peacekeepers I had (regular 'cop' livery and the all black one) before that. It hasn't done it since, so it's possible I hit customize twice. I was trying to add it to the garage so I could use it for something else, but don't remember what now.) --Azaram (talk) 08:15, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
Hitting customize twice wouldn't normally do that, so I think it's still a glitch. But it gives me an idea, I'll try and hitting the action key over and over and see what happens :) --452 08:25, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
Playing SRTT on 360, I've come across some kind of duplication glitch. I don't know the exact cause, so I'll just say exactly what I did.
I went in with one Attrazione, couldn't mod due to notoriety, so I went around the block. Then I repaired it, improved torque, coloured it, and now there are two, one from before the torque upgrade, and one after. -452 19:12, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
And I repeated it. Grabbed a solar, ran over some people to get notoriety, repaired the vehicle, lost the notoriety, coloured the vehicle, drove out of the garage, walked into the office and I had two solars. Some of these steps may be unnecessary, but we know it's definitely repeatable. Unfortunately, it's probably only repeatable when you're first adding a car to the garage. -452 19:26, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
Many unnecessary steps. All that is required is enter Rim Jobs with a damaged vehicle, repair it, modify it, the look in the Garage menu and it's duplicated. -452 19:43, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
Ive noticed that aswell i never really took notice of it though El Ieuan (talk) 19:48, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
Also its same glitch from two topics above El Ieuan (talk) 19:51, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
So it is! (moving) -452 20:32, June 27, 2013 (UTC)

Customization Glitch note[]

I was having trouble with the glitch with some vehicles - I could get the gang vehicles working, but not the tanks.

  • I was stealing a new car off the street outside, and driving into the bay.
  • When I drove in in a car which was already in the garage - the glitch worked with all vehicles, inc tanks.
  • Tested several times, and consistently was able to edit all vehicles after first retrieving an already owned car.
  • Did not test first applying a mod to a new car before trying the glitch on a tank, doesn't really matter, since we now know how to use the glitch 100%
  • The previous info about "drive away and come back" was due to the fact that I would drive away in my Attrazione...

-452 02:42, August 6, 2012 (UTC)

I just did it with a vehicle I already owned (pulled out of the garage, drove to a Rim Jobs, now have a nice purple Challenger with gold rims. :P ). (tries with a new car off the street I didn't have) That worked for me too, I just changed the Wraith. Did not have 'repaint body' available, so it's still black with red Tron lines, but I could upgrade the handling gear, add kneecappers, changed the window tint and turned the underglow color to 'dark grey', which I'm looking forward to seeing. :P --Azaram (talk) 12:02, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Saints Row IV hydraulics[]

I just added working hydraulics to an Assert (Zin police vehicle). -452 05:56, August 22, 2013 (UTC)

Good that Hydraulics is re-added. Does it work same as in SR2? TheMoonLightman (talk) 06:00, August 22, 2013 (UTC)
Exactly the same, as far as I can tell. -452 06:03, August 22, 2013 (UTC)

Crushables[]

Can Large vehicles in SRTT be crushed by Tanks?
It seems like I've thought about this before, but I can't find a previous conversation.
Large vehicles: Ambulance, Blaze, DonoVan, Longhauler/Mix Master, Mule, Peterliner, Steelport Municipal
A surprisingly short list, and notably missing all the tanks. None of these vehicles are new to SRTT, so the field value is probably just left over from SR2 and not used at all. But the Compensator was marked as Large in SR2, and isn't in SRTT, and can be crushed, which makes me think that there might have been a reason for unmarking it.
I know that the N-Forcer can't be crushed, but that isn't defined as Large. It is, however, marked as "Heavy", and "Military". One of these two things may be related.
Military and Heavy: Bear, Challenger, ASP, Crusader, N-Forcer (Also: Commander, AB Destroyer, both VTOLS and the 3 attack Helis.)
Heavy: Gat Mobile, Ball, Pony Cart, Saints Raider, Alaskan, Titan, Genki Manapult, Scrubber, Blaze, Flatbed, Compensator, Criminal, Lockdown, Anchor. (Also: Ambulance, DonoVan, Longhauler, Municipal, Mule, Peterliner)
The fact the Compensator is in that list makes me think that either this list isn't the "crushable" list, or the Compensator can be crushed and the article info is wrong.
Can any of those Heavy vehicles be crushed?
-452 (talk) 17:40, March 10, 2014 (UTC)

The N-Forcer is defined with Crush_Height and Crush_Factor values, even though it cannot be crushed. There are several vehicles which do not have these values: Raycaster, Ambulance, Bear, Pony Cart, Titan, Genki Manapult. The Raycaster should be able to be crushed, but it does not have crush variables defined. -452 (talk) 17:48, March 10, 2014 (UTC)
