The Phillips Building is a skyscraper in Saints Row 2.

Who was the asshole Ultor named their building after?
— Playa, Female voice 1

Overview[]

Located in the Saint's Row district, the Phillips Building is the tallest building in Stilwater, standing 71 floors high, and is the main base of operations for the Ultor Corporation. Dane Vogel's office is located near the top of the building.

The area surrounding the building features many statues and monuments, displaying Ultor's power in Stilwater. There are many people in business attire in this area.

The Phillips building was constructed some time during the five years between Saints Row and Saints Row 2. It is first directly pictured during the end cutscene of the first mission,[2] and while no missions take place there until the epilogue, it is visible from almost anywhere in Stilwater, making it very useful for navigation.

The building's security systems are powered by 4 generators located in 4 separate locations along the building's exterior.

Playa shoots out one of the windows on the top floor using an Ultor-variant of the Tornado[3] before assassinating Dane Vogel.[4]

Trivia[]

  • The building is inspired by the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan, albeit with a more triangular shape. Furthermore, a series of Ultor billboards with the Ultor logo features the word "Renaissance" in reference to the real-life skyscraper complex.
  • It is possible to enter the top floor of Dane Vogel's office outside of missions by flying an aircraft through the windows.
  • The four generator alcoves are fully destructible and it is possible to enter them outside of missions.
  • Halfway up the building is a helipad where a Horizon sometimes spawns.
  • While it is never revealed who the in-game Phillips is, the Saints Row 2 credits shows that a Scott Phillips is a Project Design Architect for the game. Many buildings, companies and locations have the same names as people who worked on the game.[5][6]
  • There is a suicide Action Node on this building, which causes random Civilians to jump off the building.
  • The Phillips Building is not present in the depiction of Stilwater in Saints Row: The Third.
  • After "... and a Better Life", there are bullet holes and a broken window inside the Phillips Building.
    • Although the window is broken, there is a second window which prevents players from jumping out the building during "... and a Better Life" unless the window is broken with weapons.
